Kaonic X-ray experiments at DAFNE using SIDDHARTA
The KN system at rest makes a sensitive testing ground for chiral SU(3) symmetry in QCD, especially for the explicit symmetry breaking induced by the relatively large mass of the strange quark. At the DAΦNE electron-positron collider of Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati we study kaonic atoms, taking advantage of the low-energy kaons from Φ-mesons decaying nearly at rest. The low-energy antikaon-...
متن کاملFormation of Kaonic Atoms and Kaonic Nuclei in In-Flight (K, p) Reactions
We theoretically study kaonic atom and kaonic nucleus formation in in-flight (K−, p) reactions for C, O, Si and Ca targets. Deeply bound kaonic atoms were previously predicted to exist as quasi-stable states, and it is expected that they can be observed using certain well-suited experimental methods. Kaonic nuclear states have also been predicted to exist with large decay widths. We evaluate th...
متن کاملPrecision measurements of kaonic atoms at DAΦNE and future perspectives
The precision measurements of kaonic atoms at the DAΦNE accelerator at the LNF-INFN Laboratories are going to be performed in the framework of the SIDDHARTA international Collaboration [1]. The objective of the SIDDHARTA {Silicon Drift Detector for Hadronic Atom Research by timing Application) experiment is to continue, to deepen and enlarge the successful scientific line, initiated by the DEAR...
متن کاملSpectrum and Decays of Hadronic Atoms
Hadronic atoms are highly non-relativistic loosely bound systems of hadrons mainly formed by the Coulomb interaction. The study of these hadronic bound states has seen growing interest during recent years, because they provide important information on the behavior of QCD at low-energy. The DIRAC collaboration 1 at CERN measures the lifetime of the ππ atom, and plans to determine the ππ scatteri...
متن کاملKaon Absorption from Kaonic Atoms and Formation Spectra of Kaonic Nuclei
We considered the kaon absorption from atomic states into nucleus. We found that the nuclear density probed by the atomic kaon significantly depends on the kaon orbit. Then, we reexamined the meanings of the observed strengths of one–body and two–body kaon absorption, and investigated the effects to the formation spectra of kaon bound states by in–flight (K−, p) reactions. As a natural conseque...
